NMM Paint Workshop w/ Keenan!

NNM, or non metallic metal is the name for using standard miniature paints to give the illusion of a metallic surface without using any metallic paints. It's essentially a miniature painter's show off skill, great for competitions or army centerpieces, learning about lighting on different materials, and assuming full control over how a miniature looks. 

This is an intermediate level class. It is assumed you know how to thin paints, use a wet pallette, how to glaze and how to mix paints. 

Workshop will include: 

A brief presentation to discuss theory and research, guidance, answers to questions, and a little pre-class work. 

What you need to bring: 

• Wet palette with a new piece of palette paper 

• Rinse cup. 

• Brushes (at least one Size 0 with a fine tip, ) 

• The primed object you want to work on (sword, shoulderpad, arm). Think small. A whole mini would be too much. Feel free to bring a full mini but know we will only focus on one part of it. 

• Paints: 

• Pick one metal type you want to work on. 

• Silver/bright steel: a standard medium blue, black, white, green, a warm off white or a desaturated yellow color. 

• Gold: black, white, deep rich brown, ochre yellow, orange, bright yellow 

• Patience

RULES FOR ATTENDING: 

• Proof of vaccination is no longer required. If COVID levels rise, masking will be required. We will make an announcement about this on our website and social media if re-instated. 
• Photos may be taken at events to be used in our social media or promotional materials. Please inform the staff member running the event if you do not want your photo taken.
• Advance online registration is required.
• Anyone not registered in an ongoing event will not be allowed in the event space to maintain capacity limits.
• Food is not allowed in our event space. Drinks are allowed.
