Learn to Play: Lovecraftesque (2e), a storytelling board game

Join us at Pandemonium for a special 4-hour, storytelling board game of cosmic horror! You’re especially welcome if you’ve never before played tabletop roleplaying games (or their board game analogues) and are curious about where to start.

Lovecraftesque (2e) is a storytelling board game. This means that you and the 4 other people gathered around the table will be taking turns making decisions as one protagonist as you try to piece together the nature of the horror that will eventually spell your demise. Because it does not use a GM, players have a deck of cards with story prompts, creepy locations, and unexpected clues as fodder for the story and a board that tracks your progression down the narrative beats of a cosmic horror as you put together the tale.

You might like this game if you enjoy the genre and feel comfortable with improvisation. This isn’t necessarily a great introduction to roleplaying games, but if you don’t mind spinning stories and building on the ideas of other players, you might find it’s more your speed.
