Join us at Pandemonium for our 3-hour, bi-weekly session to learn and play games! You’re especially welcome if you’ve never before played hobby board games (and are curious about where to start).

Today, both games up for demo involved buried treasure: one is about burying said treasure, and the other is about finding it!

In Tiny Epic Pirates (1-5 players), you and your pirate crew win the game if you’re the first to bury three treasures. In order to bury treasure, you have to get money, and in order to get money, you have to pick up (or steal) things to sell on the black market. All of this happens while running from the government and battling rival pirate crews – all with an interesting, variable action mechanic modeled after a ship’s wheel. If you like games about slowly building up and making the most of chaos, you may enjoy this title.

The other, however – Treasure Island (1-5 players) – involves a very different story. One player takes on the role of Long John Silver locked within a tower and answering questions about where he buried his treasure. The other players are members of his crew, each trying their hardest to uncover his treasure and leave before the other players find it. Clues (and search radii) are literally drawn on the map, plus Silver is destined to escape jail and join the hunt (or, at that point, the race). There’s not much else like this game – hidden movement, deduction, and map drawing – so if you want to try something a little different, do check it out!

So if you ever wanted to learn these games or just want to spend time with others who want to play, come on out! And if you prefer games that aren’t about questionably legal acquisitions of wealth (and prefer the “legal” kind), stay tuned to the Events Calendar for future announcements about our next game!
