Approximately one year ago, Daggerheart was released for retail! In honor of this occasion, Darrington Press (the publisher) asked us if we could help celebrate by running a session.

And so this Wednesday, we will. This is a learn-to-play one shot, designed to teach new players the mechanics of the game. But because Daggerheart has some tricks up its ttRPG sleeves, we hope we can show just a little bit more than what you might expect.

HOLD ON! WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?!

Although Daggerheart arguably shines best when the players and GM work together to create their own world, there are some very cool settings. As such, we’ll be exploring a one-shot set in “The Colossus of the Drylands”, a world that combines tropes of the Weird West genre with fighting large, destructive creatures much in the style of the Monster Hunter video games. But don’t take my word for it! Below is a description of the setting from the author of the one-shot:

“The Drylands are frontier territory – bold prospectors and canny mages mine Essentia, a magical mineral, in these hard lands, as everyone tries to carve out a piece of it for themselves. But claim jumpers are the least of your worries, for the Forgotten Gods have been woken by these Essentia mines, and one of them, Kudamat the First Doom, is being released piece by piece. As his power grows, he forms great avatars – colossal beasts – to guard the soul shards that keep him prisoner.”

– From the author of the module (but avoid reading if you want to play!)

Logistically, you’ll be fledgling adventures riding into  town when the ramifications of the above come to pass. Will this be the beginning of your party — or the end? You’ll have to play to find out, fantasy sword (and pistol!) in hand.

ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

For the session we’ll provide pregenerated characters, pencils,  and extra d12s. If you’d like, you can bring a standard 7-die d20 set, but it is not strictly necessary. You do not need to build a character (or even know the rules) before attending.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the Pandemonium staff. Otherwise, thank you for your interest, and we’ll look forward to celebrating!
