Join us at Pandemonium for a special edition of our 3-hour, bi-weekly sessions to learn and play Blood on the Clocktower! You’re especially welcome if you’ve never before played hobby board games (and are curious about where to start).
Blood on the Clocktower is a game for roughly 5-12 people who play as either the minions of a bloodthirsty demon or the innocent residents of a town. Every night, the demon — who looks like a normal person — murders a townsperson, but every day after finding the body, the townsfolk get to nominate one player who they think might be a minion and vote to execute them. If they guess the demon, good wins! But if the demon survives (due to the crafty work of their minions – or the confusion of the good players), the game continues until the last innocent player is standing.
If you’re thinking that this sounds a lot like Werewolf or Mafia (or even Among Us), you are correct. But what makes this game different is that each “good” player has a unique role with a special ability that provides information about certain players’ team alignments; conversely, each demon can break the special abilities of good players, throwing them off the scent or making them doubt their own observations.
Therefore, this game is much more complex than standard Werewolf, but this also means that every individual is essential in playing. In addition, death in this game does not mean elimination: you remain present as a ghost and are able to keep observing, talking with other players, and eventually cast one more vote from beyond the grave to help score a win for your team!
And because this game is best at around 10 players, if we do have 6 or fewer, we’ll have Dawn ready to demo. This title is more game than social deduction – you’re trying to cooperatively build a town with the other players – but! – and critically! – you choose, over the course of the game, whether you want to be a traitor or ally at the end.
So if all of that sounds like fun, do join us on Sunday! But if the timing doesn’t work out, or this isn’t your cup of tea, check out the Events calendar for future events!
