Join us at Pandemonium for our 3-hour, bi-weekly session to learn and play a selection of games from our demo library! You’re especially welcome if you’ve never before played hobby board games (and are curious about where to start).

Tonight’s event will feature four games about solving mysteries or puzzles (that are often – but not always – elements of human crime). In other words, if you like deduction puzzles, this event should have some games for you. We’ll investigate, therefore, the following:

(Note that in some cases, we’re writing this before we learn the game, so always trust your own research over our blurbs!)

Mysterium is a Pandemonium-staff favorite, and is a competitive, crime-solving game with a bit of a twist. Most of you will play as mediums trying to communicate with the spirit of the deceased victim in order to see who solves the crime first, but one of you will be the spirit of the deceased, communicating clues from beyond the veil to help the investigators solve your murder.

Herbalism isn’t about murder, but it is about applying deductive reasoning to blend a cure for a plague smiting your community. You do need to share knowledge with the other herbalists to get ahead, but you don’t want to share enough to let them beat you to the cure!

Voices in My Head is a one-versus-many game of courtroom drama in which one player (the prosecution) is trying to pin a crime on the defendant (Guy) an individual we know is guilty and whose defense is served by the other players at the table – various voices (and alibis) in his head. It’s a truly gonzo game with a tiled, 3-D board, and it looks both wacky and fun.

Mantis Falls is a smaller game (2-3 players) about a witness who saw something the local gangsters really didn’t want seen and is trying to flee town with other folks. Although the idea is to escape together, one of the other players in your group may be a traitor – and, of course, wants you to disappear in a different way. It is likely the thematic opposite of Voices in My Head, but it’s sure to tell an unforgettable story particularly suited to the medium of board games.

So if you ever wanted to learn these games or just want to spend time with others who like playing games, come on out! And if you prefer games that are less about mysteries, then check out our event page for upcoming events!

If you’d rather we meet at a different time OR if there are any board games in our collection you’d like to see us feature, let us know by filling out the Google Form here!
