Join us at Pandemonium for our 3-hour, bi-weekly session to learn and play a selection of games from our demo library! You’re especially welcome if you’ve never before played hobby board games (and are curious about where to start).
Today, we’re going to do something a little different: we – as a community – are voting (throughout the week) on which of the following games we want to play! The choices are as follows:
-
Captain Sonar (1e) – team versus team submarine combat. Great for large groups!
-
Zombicide (2e) – cooperative, mission-based, tactical adventures that always involve putting the undead to rest (sometimes, of course, via heavy automobile).
-
Mantis Falls – a 2-3 player game where you try and figure out if your teammate is actually trying to kill you as you escape the mob in a small town.
-
Star Realms – a self-contained, head-to-head deckbuilder of starship combat; can be played in teams.
Why these games? The short answer is all four are (arguably) game engines. In other words, they’re platforms for various types of play that are usually accessible only after multiple times playing, either because of advanced rules or different set-ups within the core boxes themselves. So we, as a group, wanted to revisit them, but we – as a group – need to figure out which ones we want to try again!
One way to vote is through this link (here). On it, you’ll find a Google survey with brief descriptions of each game. The winning selection will be determined on Saturday, 02/10 (at around 6:00 p.m.). You can follow the progress of the votes (and how many folks have RSVP’d to play) at the following virtual bulletin board (just click the link). This is an experimental feature, but we’re excited to see how it works!
So if you ever wanted to learn these games or just want to spend time with others who like playing games, come on out! And if these aren’t your cup of tea, stay tuned to our events calendar for what we’ll be playing next year!
If you’d rather we meet at a different time OR if there are any board games in our collection you’d like to see us feature, let us know by filling out the Google Form here!
