Join us at Pandemonium for our 3-hour, bi-weekly session to learn and play a selection of games from our demo library! You’re especially welcome if you’ve never before played hobby board games (and are curious about where to start).

Tonight’s event will feature four games about developing land that exists (rather than putting new land down – believe us, it’s a distinction!). And, broadly speaking, development can mean buildings, citizens, or even parks for bears! (see below)

(Note that in some cases, we’re writing this before we learn the game, so always trust your own research over our blurbs!)

Akropolis is a tile-laying, competitive spatial arrangement puzzle in which you develop your land by stacking pieces of it ever-upwards (not quite like Carcassonne). It’s a fast and intriguing game that follows its theme pretty well, so it’s worth a shot if you want to see a new spin on a well-loved mechanism!

Welcome to Your Perfect Home is about developing suburbia via, as the publisher suggests, “a roll-and-write dice game…without dice.” If the theme doesn’t sound interesting, the mechanism surely is, and it could be worth trying this one out if you like thinky puzzles that require making use of random inputs.

Machi Koro (1st edition) is a competitive game of turning an empty field into a bustling metropolis. It’s a bit of engine-building and a bit (quite a bit!) of luck, but it’s a staple in the hobby board game field, and if you’ve never tried it, this is a great way to check it out!

Bärenpark is a game about building a park for bears (even just bears in name, like  koalas, as the game assures us). What makes it interesting is that you’re laying down polyominoes (i.e., Tetris tiles), drafted from a common pool, in order to build your park, so if you like games that can get a little competitive (but not directly so), you may like this one.

So if you ever wanted to learn these games or just want to spend time with others who like playing games, come on out! And if you’d rather have your land undeveloped and thriving with nature (as in, you’re not feeling the theme or mechanisms of this selection) stay tuned to the calendar and newsletter for our next event!

If you’d rather we meet at a different time OR if there are any board games in our collection you’d like to see us feature, let us know by filling out the Google Form here!
