Author Event: John Wiswell & Elizabeth Bear

Hair of the Readercon that bit you! We're going to welcome back Elizabeth Bear and John Wiswell to our store for a discussion about their new books!

Elizabeth is promoting the latest book in her White Space series; "The Folded Sky," a deep space opera where an archivist trying to save an intelligence is attacked by fanatic pirates in an isolated part of the galaxy. 

John is promoting his newest book; "Wearing the Lion" A humanizing redemptive retelling of the Heracles myth, where a traumatized Heracles, who cannot enact more violence, instead befriends a found family of monsters, while searching for the god that killed his family.

Come join these two authors in a discussion about the craft, blood or found family, and what it takes to make a hero's journey.

John Wiswell is a disabled writer who lives where New York keeps all its trees. He won the 2021 Nebula Award for Short Fiction for his story, "Open House on Haunted Hill," and the 2022 Locus Award for Best Novelette for "That Story Isn't The Story." He has also been a finalist for the Hugo Award, British Fantasy Award, and World Fantasy Award. He is the author of   Someone You Can Build a Nest In, a Nebula nominee and Year's Best pick by NPR and The Washington Post, and Wearing the Lion. He can be found making too many puns and discussing craft on his Substack, johnwiswell.substack.com.

Elizabeth Bear was born on the same day as Frodo and Bilbo Baggins, but in a different year. She is the Hugo, Sturgeon, Locus, and Astounding Award winning author of dozens of novels; over a hundred short stories; and a number of essays, nonfiction, and opinion pieces for markets as diverse as Popular Mechanics and The Washington Post. She lives in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts with her spouse, writer Scott Lynch.

• Advance online registration is strongly recommended. Anyone not registered in an ongoing event may not be allowed in the event space to maintain capacity limits.
• Ticket price is an RSVP to save your seat, but also acts as a deposit that can go toward the purchase of the book or other store merchandise
• No food will be allowed in our event space for the time being. Hydrating is allowed.
