About the Author
This collection includes writings by Héli Chatelain(1859-1908), Wilhelm Bleek (1827-1875), Elphinstone Dayrell(1869-1917) and many others. Héli Chatelain was a Swiss linguist who worked with rural communities in Angola and transcribed mythical and folkloric tales shared by the people. The German linguistics Wilhelm Bleek wrote about indigenous South African peoples throughout his life, including one of his most popular books Bushman Folklore (1911). Elphinstone Darrell was an ethnographer who contributed greatly to the preservation of Nigerian folklore. One of his popular titles is Folk Stories from Southern Nigeria West Africa (1910).
