WHAT IS TEN CANDLES?
Ten Candles is a zero-prep tabletop storytelling game designed for a one-shot session of tragic horror. It is best played by the light of ten tea light candles which provide atmosphere, act as a countdown timer for the game, and allow you to literally burn your character sheet away as you play.*
Ten Candles is described as a "tragic horror" game rather than survival horror for one main reason: in Ten Candles there are no survivors. In the final scene of the game, when only one candle remains, all of the characters will die. In this, Ten Candles is not a game about "winning" or beating the monsters. Instead, it is a game about what happens in the dark, and about those who try to survive within it. It is a game about being pushed to the brink of madness and despair, searching for hope in a hopeless world, and trying to do something meaningful with your final few hours left.
The setting of Ten Candles will change game-to-game as both the gamemaster and the players will determine the exact conditions of the setting and the lineup of doomed characters during the session of play itself. The monsters you're facing will change every time you play as well, allowing every session of Ten Candles to be unique and present an entirely new tragic story to tell.
*Note that, at Pandemonium, fire will not be allowed, so we will be playing by the light of battery-powered tea candles with dissolving paper. Nevertheless, the game will still be played in the dark, and we hope things will still work out!
10 Candles is a perfect game for players new to roleplaying. Conversely, if it's not your first time rolling dice at the table, it may push you to think more about roleplaying games and what's possible in the hobby. Although the game does tell a tragic story (see above for why), the true emphasis of the game is on hope and creating a truly collaborative story in the moment with each other.

RULES FOR ATTENDING:
- Proof of COVID vaccination is required at EVERY EVENT. Either the presentation of the physical card or a clear picture will suffice. Pandemonium does not keep any records, written or otherwise, of vaccination status.
- Advance online registration is required.
- Anyone not registered in an ongoing event will not be allowed in the event space to maintain capacity limits.
- Masks are required and must be kept on unless drinking. No food will be allowed in our event space for the time being.
