Come to Pandemonium January 25th for an author discussion with the two editors of queer anthologies!
Ann Leblanc returns with Embodied Exegesis, an exploration of transfeminine cyberpunk futures. And Jay Kang Romanus debuts with Dudes Rock, a short story anthology questioning what masculinity means through a queer lens. Format will be a light interview, followed by excerpted readings, an audience Q & A, and a time for signing at the end.
Embodied Exegesis is an anthology of cyberpunk and posthuman stories written by transfem authors, that explores the limits of the genre: gender-affirming cybernetics, the literary surveillance state, transcendent hive-minds, a transgender coffee machine, and weaponized shitposts. The future of cyberpunk is trans, so stay tuned for an anthology of wild and weird stories exploring the limits of technological transformations of our bodies and minds
In Dudes Rock, the stories visualize all the different ways masculinity might look in a world different than our own, for better or worse. From living in a universe where you'd feel safe telling your best friend you've always loved him, or where smoking hot demons exist to indulge all your worst impulses. From buff aliens to gender-affirming werewolf bites, Dudes Rock is about celebrating everything that queer masculinity can become beyond the confines of a single world.
About the Authors
Jay Kang Romanus is a writer and editor of short speculative fiction, often with a twist of horror. He doesn’t find the real world a very interesting setting since his stories are about living at the intersection of being a gay, disabled, mixed Asian-American, and he’s already done that here. You can find him online under the handle @jellicle_jay on X and Instagram, @jelliclejay.bsky.social on Bluesky, or on his website at jaykangromanus.com
Ann LeBlanc is a writer, editor, and woodworker. Her debut novella, THE TRANSITIVE PROPERTIES OF CHEESE, is a cyberpunk cheese-heist, published by Neon Hemlock. Ann is the editor of EMBODIED EXEGESIS, an anthology of cyberpunk and posthuman stories by transfem authors. Her short fiction has been published in Strange Horizons, Clarkesworld Magazine, Escape Pod, and Baffling Magazine. You can find her in cyberspace at www.annleblanc.com
