Dungeons & Dragons Tarot Deck

Tarot cards began as a form of tabletop game much like the standard playing cards we use today, but the beautiful pictures and strong symbolism led them to become known as a form of fortune telling. Now, with the Dungeons & Dragons Tarot Deck, they have come full circle! You can use these gorgeous cards to inspire adventures for your game, or use them as any other deck to reflect on issues in your mind and life.

While you might be expecting familiar characters like Strahd von Zarovich or Drizzt Do'Urden to appear on the cards, the symbolism here is much more abstract. Death, for instance, is a card that represents sweeping change. In the Dungeons & Dragons deck, it depicts a demonic figure extending her hand. If you take her hand, will it spell your doom or lead you to a quest that will forever change your way of thinking? For use in a game, it offers the prompt “A vampire lord offers you the gift of eternal undeath in exchange for a single favor.”

Another card, the Hierophant, usually means the power of religion and community (whether that power is working with you or against you.) In this deck, a woman is shown in deep meditation, levitating and surrounded by golden birds. It isn’t a simple picture of a Cleric, Paladin or other divine class, but of a character transcending mortal limitations to commune with the divine itself. The corresponding prompt reads “You find a holy book written by a wise sage that contains a cryptic secret hidden within it”- the start of what sounds like an incredible adventure!

Some people spend a lifetime studying the tarot, but you don’t have to do that to get a huge amount out of this deck! From the lavish artwork to the story inspiration, the Dungeons & Dragons Tarot Deck is perfect for any gamer or occult enthusiast, and holds a place as one of the loveliest decks on the market.
